January 16 at the Parish Center at 6:30 PM. PARISHIONER POLL RESULTS Last weekend all parishioners attending Mass had the opportunity to choose the new Mass schedule that will go into effect on the First Sunday of Lent, February 10, 2008. The results of the poll was: 798 selected Schedule “A” while 590 selected Schedule “B”. The majority has selected schedule “A”. The NEW Mass schedule will be: Saturday Vigil Mass 4:00 PM Sunday Masses at 7:30 AM 9:00 AM 10:30 AM with the Spanish Mass at 12 Noon Baptisms will be at 1:30 PM. PRE-BAPTISM CLASSES – Baptism classes help prepare first time parents (and others) for bringing their child up in the faith, selecting godparents, and introducing or reviewing with them the special sacrament they are requesting for their child from the church. Baptism Day is truly a blessed, exciting, and joyful day for parents, child, families, and the church. Classes are held on the last Tuesday of each month, with few exceptions. The next class is scheduled for Tuesday, January 29 at 7:00 PM in the Church Hall. Parents or soon-to-be-parents MUST BE REGISTERED MEMBERS OF HOLY TRINITY PARISH. Those wishing to attend a Tuesday class must call the rectory to register, 269-8791.
I – Erik Seitz and Marcy Kravet NOTE REGARDING FIRST FRIDAY MASS- Beginning January 2008 Mass will only be celebrated at 8:30 AM on First Fridays. The 12:05 PM Friday Mass, and the Eucharistic Adoration that precedes it, has been discontinued. Instead, please join us for the Eucharistic Adoration and Holy Hour on First Friday evenings in the church. CHARISMATIC PRAYER MEETING will take place on Monday, January 21 in the church from 7:00-8:30 PM. Everyone is welcome to attend.
The Second Grade will receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation on Monday, January 14th at 7:00 PM at the church. In observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday, CCD classes will not be held on Monday, January 21, Tuesday, January 22. On Saturday, January 26 there will not be class in observance of Catholic Education Week. The CCD office will be closed on those days as well. A bus is scheduled to leave from St. Mark the Evangelist Church , West Hartford at 11 PM on Monday, January 21 and will proceed to St. Mary Church, Milford for a Midnight departure. After a brief breakfast stop in Maryland the bus will arrive at the Washington Plaza Hotel for an 8:00 AM Mass with Archbishop Henry Mansell. Following visits at the offices of Connecticut Senators and Representatives, the group will take up the March at Noon. The bus will leave Washington at 3 PM and bring you home by 11 PM. The cost is $35 and reservations can be made by contacting St. Mary Church, Milford at 203-878-3571. Another bus will offer a slightly longer itinerary. On Monday, January 21 it will leave the Franciscan Life Center , Meriden at 7 AM. Upon arrival and registration at the Washington Plaza Hotel, the bus will bring pilgrims to the 7 PM Vigil Mass for Life at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception. After the January 22, 8AM Mass with Archbishop Mansell, a breakfast will have, as a speaker, Deidre McQuade of the Pro-Life Secretariat of the USCCB. Cost is $89 for the bus and breakfast. If you are unable to attend this meeting it is important for you to call the rectory at 269-8791. “SEEK THE FACE OF CHRIST” 150TH ANNIVERSARY OF OUR LADY OF LOURDES Monday, February 11, 2008 This year marks the 150th anniversary of the apparitions of the Most Blessed Virgin Mary in Lourdes , France to Bernadette Soubirous, where Our Blessed Mother revealed Herself as the “Immaculate Conception”. “In order to draw increased fruits of renewed sanctity from this holy anniversary, the Supreme Pontiff Benedict XVI has decided to concede the gift of Plenary Indulgence” to the faithful under the usual conditions (sacramental Confession, Eucharistic communion and prayer in keeping with the intentions of the Holy Father), in the following ways: Visiting the listed sites in Lourdes during December 8, 2007 to December 8, 2008; visit any church, grotto, shrine or decorous place, the blessed image of that same Virgin of Lourdes, solemnly exposed for public veneration with pious Marion devotion and prayer, concluding with the Our Father, Profession of Faith, and the invocation of the Blessed Virgin Mary. This is to be done during the anniversary week of February 2 to 11, 2008; finally, there is a plenary indulgence for those who are sick, aged, or unable to leave home, for spiritually visiting the above mention sites in prayer, trustingly offering to God, through Mary, the sickness and discomforts of their lives, the week of February 2 to 11 under the usual conditions observed as soon as they can.
