CHALICE PROGRAM FOR VOCATIONS Last Weekend, Mr. James Sullivan spoke at all the Masses about the Family Chalice Program for Vocations. As Mr. Sullivan announced, we will begin this program with the First Sunday of Lent, February 9^th & 10^th .Currently, we have 170 families/individuals who have signed up to take the Chalice home for the week and Pray for vocations. If anyone would like to sign up for the program, please contact the Parish Office at 269-8791 during regular office hours, Monday thru Friday, 9 AM to 4 PM. Thank you.

PRE-BAPTISM CLASSES – Baptism classes help prepare first time parents (and others) for bringing their child up in the faith, selecting godparents, and introducing or reviewing with them the special sacrament they are requesting for their child from the church. Baptism Day is truly a blessed, exciting, and joyful day for parents, child, families, and the church. Classes are held on the last Tuesday of each month, with few exceptions. The next class is scheduled for Tuesday, January 29 at 7:00 PM in the Church. Parents or soon-to-be-parents MUST BE REGISTERED MEMBERS OF HOLY TRINITY PARISH. Those wishing to attend a Tuesday class must call the rectory to register, 269-8791.

ARCHDIOCESAN MASS HONORING AND REMEMBERING DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR., (sponsored by the Archdiocesan Office for Black Catholic Ministries) will be celebrated at the Cathedral of St. Joseph, 140 Farmington Avenue in Hartford , on Monday, January 21 at 9:00 AM. All are welcome to attend!

YOUTH GROUP (for high school students) will meet at the parish center on Sunday, January 20th from 7:00-8:30 PM.

DYNAMIC DISCIPLES (for junior high students) meets Sunday, January 20th at the parish center from 6:30 to 8:00 PM.

In observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday, CCD classes will not be held on Monday, January 21, Tuesday, January 22. On Saturday, January 26 there will not be class in observance of Catholic Education Week. The CCD office will be closed on those days as well.

There will be no school on Monday, January 21 in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

Science Fair projects for grades 6 and 8 will be due Thursday and Friday, January 24th and 25th.

On Monday, January 28, current 8th graders who are interested in learning more about St. Paul ’s High School by spending a day at the school in Bristol with one of the “shadowing” students, are invited to come to Shadow Day. It will be both a fun and educational day. January is Catholic Schools Month and there will be a school-wide Mass that day, along with other events. MASS CELEBRATING BLACK HISTORY MONTH, and the National Day of Prayer for the African-American Family, sponsored by the Archdiocesan Office for Black Catholic Ministries, will be celebrated on February 3rd at 2:00 PM at the Cathedral of St. Joseph, 140 Farmington Avenue , Hartford . “MAKING MORALLY INFORMED DECISIONS IN SERIOUS ILLNESS AND AT THE END OF LIFE” is a special lecture being presented by Father Tadeusz Pacholczyk, PhD, a priest of the Diocese of Fall River, MA, and Director of Education for the National Catholic Bioethics Center in Philadelphia. This important lecture is free and open to the public, and will be held at St. Mary Church Hall, 5 Hillhouse Avenue , New Haven , on Sunday, January 27th at 2:00 PM. Father Pacholczyk will give you insights on the issues and moral implications that individuals and families may face at times of grave illness.

I come, therefore, with the most unbounded confidence to implore your maternal intercession. Obtain for me, O loving Mother, what I request (here mention your request). Through gratitude for your favors, I will endeavor to imitate your virtues, that I may one day share your glory. Our Lady of Lourdes , Mother of Christ, you had influence with your divine Son while upon earth. You have the same influence now in heaven. Pray for me; obtain for me from your divine Son my special request if it be divine will. Amen.

THE ABC’S OF ANNULMENTS, an informational program designed to answer questions about the process of Annulments, will be held on Friday, January 25 from 7:00 to 9:00 PM in Our Lady of Mt. WEEK OF PRAYER FOR CHRISTIAN UNITY CELEBRATES 100 YEARS, JANUARY 18-25 It is a time when we come together with other Christians in our communities to pray for a greater visible unity among us and to commit ourselves to work together for the day when we, with God’s help, will bring to fruition the prayer of Jesus prayed on the night before His death, namely, “that they may all be one, as you Father are in Me and I in You.” (John 17:21) Pray for the unity of Christians and for all those involved in ecumenical dialogue and cooperation. Pope Benedict XVI, has made ecumenism a high priority of his pontificate. His general intention for the month of January reads: “That the Church may strengthen her commitment to full visible unity in order to manifest in an ever growing degree her nature as community of love, in which is reflected the communion of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.”

For Christians everywhere, especially those involved in working for the unity of the Church, that God will bless our efforts to grow closer in Christ through common prayer, study, and mutual cooperation, we pray to the Lord, our God. Amen.
