The Dinner will be served on Wednesday, March 7th in the Church Hall from 6-7:30 PM. Tickets will be on sale at the rectory during office hours. Tickets are: $5 for adults and $2 for children 4-10 (children 3 and under are free). Leave the cooking to us and enjoy the evening! MENU: Garden salad, ziti in meat sauce, meatballs, bread and butter, cake, coffee, tea and soda (served buffet style). “PAINTING PARTIES”- BUILDING AND MAINTENANCE COMMITTEE invites those who would like to volunteer their time to meet in the church hall between the hours of 6:00 and 9:00 PM on any, or all of the following dates: Monday, March 5 and Thursday, March 8. At the end of each scheduled “painting party” a light supper (soup, sandwiches, pasta, stew, etc.) is served to the workers. DYNAMIC DISCIPLES (junior high group) will meet next Sunday, March 11 at the Parish Center at the regular time. NEW ARCHDIOCESAN DIACONATE CLASS TO BEGIN IN THE FALL – REGISTER BY MARCH 7 ! The Archdiocesan Office of Diaconate Formation is now preparing to admit a new class of candidates for the Diaconate in the fall of 2007. Any Catholic man between the ages of 35-60 who may be interested in the Permanent Diaconate is encouraged to speak to Father Gary or Deacon Gene. Two inquiry sessions will be held at Sacred Heart Church , in Bloomfield ( 26 Wintonbury Avenue ) on Sunday, March 11, and Sunday, March 25 from 2:00-4:00 PM. Both sessions must be attended, and spouses must also attend. Please call the office at 1-860-843-1448, NO LATER THAN MARCH 7 in order to pre-register. Archbishop’s Annual Appeal 2007
This weekend marks the start of the 2007 Archbishop’s Annual Appeal in our parish. Soon you will receive a letter from Archbishop Mansell asking for your support to nourish the many ministries, programs and services that change lives in our Archdiocese. Your generosity is greatly appreciated. Help your parish reach it’s 2007 Goal of $80,100.00. Every gift counts, every gift is needed! IOWA testing begins on Monday, March 5th for grades 3-7. It will continue until Friday, March 16th. Spring Fundraiser orders and money are due Tuesday, March 6. EASTER FOOD BASKET COLLECTION BEGINS In keeping with the spirit of charity, sacrifice and service of the Lenten Season, next weekend, (March 10-11), we begin the parish collection of food items to fill the baskets for Easter Dinner for our parish families in need. HAMS (canned or cooked) are especially in need and desired. Hams should be dropped off at the rectory during office hours, Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 4 PM. Other NON-PERISHABLE FOODS needed are: Hearty-style soups and stews, tuna, pasta, bottled spaghetti sauce, peanut butter, jelly, bottled juices, boxed mashed potatoes, boxed stuffing, baked beans, apple sauce, Easter candy, canned vegetables, hot chocolate, macaroni & cheese, saltines, cereal, cookies, sugar, and canned fruit. Non-perishable items may be left in the church under the Statue of St. Joseph or in the vestibule of the Elevator Entrance under the State of Blessed Mother . The deadline for items is Monday, March 26. Those wishing to make a MONETARY DONATION may do so by marking a plain envelope “Easter Food Basket Donation” and placing it in the weekend collection basket up through Easter. Your donations will help defray the expense of the perishable foods that need to be added to the baskets. Monetary donations will be accepted up to Easter. Recipient names must be received by Monday, March 16 by John Dichello and his faithful delivery crew. CCD REGISTRATION FOR 2007-2008 Parents of students entering grade 1 through 9, in September 2007, including students entering the Confirmation Preparation Program, (who are presently in grade 8) should register for religious education classes by April 4th at the Religious Education Office located on the first floor of Holy Trinity School . Payment for religious education classes is due at the time of registration. Registrations received after April 4, 2007 will be charged an additional $5. The fee for students who are registered at Holy Trinity Parish is $40 (for one child), $60 for two (or more children). Students who are parishioners of another parish the fee is $80 per child. Registration fee for students entering the Confirmation Preparation Program is $45 for parishioners and $90 for non-parishioners. This fee also covers the cost of the Confirmation gown rental. Children who are registering for grade 1, or who are new to the program and were not baptized at Holy Trinity, are required to bring a copy of their baptism certificate at the time of registration. Children entering grade 3, who received First Holy Communion in another parish, must also bring a copy of this certificate at the time of registration.
LENTEN GOSPEL REFLECTION FOR LADIES Please join us deepen the experience of Christ’s Passion this Lenten Season on Thursday evenings March 8, March 15, and March 22. CHOWDER POT FRIDAYS will take place on Fridays during Lent at 12:35 PM (following the 12:05 PM Mass). A SPECIAL MASS OF REMEMBRANCE (sponsored by the Pro-Life Ministry of the Archdiocese of Hartford ) is an opportunity to remember children who have died as a result of miscarriage, abortion, accident, illness, or violence and is an important way for healing and recognizing the precious gift of life. This Mass of Remembrance will be held on Tuesday, April 24 at 5:30 PM at Corpus Christi Church in Wethersfield . Father James Cronin, Pro-Life Director, will be the main celebrant. All are welcome. OPERATION RICE BOWL As we continue our journey with Operation Rice Bowl, we PRAY for justice and equality in meeting people’s basic needs, and actively GIVE ALMS to support our intentions. “RICE BOWLS” are available at all exits of the church. All adults and children (those who did not receive one either through Holy Trinity School or Religious Education classes) are asked to please make a sacrifice to help the needy. Please participate in this beautiful act of charity and self-sacrifice. Catholic Relief Service’s theme this year is “One Light, One Journey, One Human Family”.
