The choir sang this for the first time last year and are repeating it again this year at the request of several who were there last year to hear it. Described as a sacred cantata, “Olivet to Calvary ” recalls the scenes which mark the last few days of Christ’s life on earth. Part One starts with the jubilant journey to Jerusalem and ends with the scene on the Mount of Olives . Part Two begins with the Feast of the Passover with Christ’s commandment to his disciples to “love one another” and ends with the Crucifixion on Calvary .Come and bring a friend to this evening of wonderfully moving music sung by our choir and soloists. They have worked very hard to make this presentation very special for your Lenten meditation. Please give them your support.
SR. CHRISTINE COSGROVE CELEBRATES 25 YEARS IN RELIGIOUS LIFE- A Wallingford native, Sr. Christine grew up in Holy Trinity Parish, attending Holy Trinity School and graduating from Mercy High School . The deep faith that was planted in her family lie and nurtured in the parish continues to blossom and grow as she celebrates 25 years as a Dominican Sister of St. Mary of the Springs. Sr. Christine has served most of her religious life in New York City . While at Dominican Academy , Sr. Christine earned a MA in English and later a PHD in Educational Administration, both from Fordham University . She is currently finishing another Masters degree in Scripture. During a sabbatical period last year, Sr. Christine was grateful for the opportunity to travel to new countries and to see and experience the Church in less developed areas of the world. “The faith of the people we encountered was extraordinary,” she says, adding, experiences overseas broadened her perspective of both the Dominican Order and the greater Church, affirmed and renewed her faith, and strengthened her commitment to global education. Please pray for Sr. Christine as she continues in her ministry and vocation. We congratulate her and wish her well as she celebrates her Silver Anniversary.
