ANNUAL PARISH LENTEN MEDITATION IN MUSIC Please plan to save Friday evening, March 23 at 7:00 PM to come and hear the Adult Choir in their Lenten presentation of Maunder’s sacred cantata, “Olivet to Calvary ”. The choir sang this for the first time last year and are repeating it again this year at the request of several who were there last year to hear it. Described as a sacred cantata, “Olivet to Calvary ” recalls the scenes which mark the last few days of Christ’s life on earth. Part One starts with the jubilant journey to Jerusalem and ends with the scene on the Mount of Olives . Part Two begins with the Feast of the Passover with Christ’s commandment to his disciples to “love one another” and ends with the Crucifixion on Calvary. Come and bring a friend to this evening of wonderfully moving music sung by our choir and soloists. They have worked very hard to make this presentation very special for your Lenten meditation. Please give them your support. EASTER FOOD BASKET COLLECTION ENDS NEXT WEEKEND, MARCH 24/25 We are still in need of HAMS (canned or cooked). Refreshments will be served. PADRE PIO: MIRACLE MAN is a film based on the extraordinary life of the famous and controversial Franciscan friar who bore the stigmata-the wounds of Christ-and is now a saint, canonized by Pope John Paul II in 2002. The film leads the viewer through the early childhood of Francesco Forgione, giving a glimpse into his supernatural connection with Jesus and Mary and his desire, at a very young age, to become a priest. Padre Pio’s humility, compassion, sharp wit, intense suffering and deep faith are expertly portrayed. The incredible miracles he performed are also highlighted and the film does not shy away from the portrayal of the persecution he suffered, even when it was at the hands of those in the church. This beautifully inspirational film is not to be missed-it received the AUDIENCE AWARD at the LA Italian Film Awards. Please invited your family and friends. Ignatius Press books and DVDs will be available for purchase after the movie. Admission is free, as well as the refreshments.
