- A FAMILY PERSPECTIVE - The question in today’s gospel “What will this child be?” concerns all parents. We spend years trying to influence and shape the answer, hoping our children will be “strong in spirit”, like the Baptist, and also “blessing God” like Zachariah. When they came on the eighth day to circumcise the child, they were going to call him Zechariah after his father, but his mother said in reply, "No. He will be called John." - Lk 1:59-60
