BLESSING OF THE ANIMALS (and their human companions)

Saturday, October 6 at 1:00 PM

In the parking lot behind the rectory, by the Fr. Gene Room

Please join us for this annual event as we ask God’s blessing on His earthly creations… our land, water, sky, and the animal and human life that dwells on it. We especially thank Him for the animals trained to entertain and serve us, ex. dolphins trained to warn sailors of mines in the sea waters, dogs that have been trained as guide dogs for the blind, police canine unit dogs, and dogs that have used to find lost people in rural areas or other emergency situations like building collapses. We especially thank Him for those animals that are just our family companions. We invite those who have a “special” pet they wish to have blessed bring them, leashed, caged, or contained to the church parking lot on October 6 at 1:00 PM.  As stewards of God’s creation we need to respect our earthly blessings and not abuse or misuse His gifts. As an offering we ask that you please bring pet food and/or pet supplies with you. Donated items will be given to the Wallingford Animal Shelter, which is always sincerely grateful for our help. And we pray, St. Francis, patron saint of animals, and of social action, please for us and for our world!
