All students and parents are urged to participate in this project.SATURDAY, OCTOBER 27 IS THE LAST DAY OF THE CCD “READY-TO-WEAR” SOCK AND COAT DRIVE Check your closets and drawers for any NEW or SLIGHTLY USED, (but CLEAN AND READY-TO-WEAR!) socks and coats. Then bundle them up and drop them off at the CCD Office, 1st floor of Holy Trinity School . Donations will be taken until Saturday, October 27. Call the CCD office with questions at 265-6300. The weekend of October 27 and 28 CCD students will be selling donuts after all Masses. SUNDAY BIBLE SCHOOL is in session in the Church Hall during the 9:00 AM Mass. The Sunday Bible School program is designed for pre-schoolers (3-5 year old boys and girls who are potty-trained, please). The program includes arts & crafts, songs, bible stories and learning prayers. Parents wishing to register their children are asked to please be in the church hall between 8:45 AM and 9:00 AM; or call the Religious Education Office at 265-6300. YOUTH GROUP (for high school students) will meet at the Parish Center on Sunday, October 21 from 7-8:30 PM. - BINGO - Join in the game on Friday, October 26 beginning at 7:00 PM in the Church Hall. There will NOT be Bingo played on November 2, All Souls Day. OPTIONS FOR ADOPTION GROUP meets on the third Sunday of the month. Food collection for holiday baskets begins on Monday, October 22nd. The ziti dinner will be held in the church hall on Monday, October 22 at 6:00 PM. The Magnet Fundraiser ends on Wednesday, October 24th. Have dinner at McDonald’s on Wednesday, October 24th from 4:00 to 7:00 PM to help the school. A percentage of that evenings proceeds will be donated to Holy Trinity School . There will be a Halloween event in the Church Hall at 6:00 PM on October 25th for Grades K-5. ENTRANCE EXAM AT FAIRFIELD PREPARATORY SCHOOL , Farifield- Attention all 8th grade boys! Registrations for the Fairfield Prep entrance exams are being accepted for November 17. For information call the church at 265-1694. “LUNCH BUNCH” BROWN BAG LUNCH PROGRAM FOR THE WALLINGFORD EMERGENCY SHELTER Project: Choose 1 day between November 1st until April 15th Needed: 15 Brown bag lunches for your day Sample: Sandwich , Fruit, Juice box or Soda, Snacks, Chips, Candy, Gum, Crackers Again, this season, Kathy Dietle and the Christians In Action Committee are asking for volunteers to provide lunches for the clients of the Wallingford Emergency Shelter. The shelter closes at 7 AM and does not reopen until 6 PM. The lunches are given to the clients when they leave in the morning to provide nourishment for the day. The lunches are made in your home, with food items that you provide, and brought to the shelter the evening. Any help is greatly appreciated. FUND RAISER TO BENEFIT “MASTER’S MANNA” (a non-profit organization that feeds the hungry) will be held at the Knights of Columbus Hall, Quinnipiac Street on Saturday, October 27 from 5:00-10:00 PM. SPECIAL LITURGY (MASS) FOR THE DECEASED OF OUR PARISH As a parish family we are well aware that change has been brought to many of our families who have experienced the death of a loved one within this past year. We invite all families – as well as all members of our parish family –to a special Mass on Wednesday, November 7 at 7:00 PM. Members of our parish bereavement groups will also be in attendance at his special Mass. Following the Mass, the Parish Hospitality Committee will host a reception in the church hall for everyone in attendance. Every attempt is being made to contact, via mail, at least one member of the immediate family of those who have died between November 2006 up to the present. If, as the date grows closer, you have yet to receive an invitation please know that your loved one will be remembered at this Mass and make plans to attend. CONNECTICUT RIGHT TO LIFE CONVENTION Plan now to set aside Saturday, October 27 to attend the CRLC state convention at the Courtyard by Marriott in Cromwell. The keynote speaker at the evening’s banquet will be Fr. Tad Pacholczyk, a national expert on human cloning and embryonic stem cell research, and Director of Education at the National Catholic Bioethics Center . Other speakers will be Suzanne Vitadamo, sister of Terri Schiavo who died in 2005 in Florida , who will speak on the family’s fight to save Terri and the end of life issues they confronted in trying to care for her. Also, Georgette Forney, president of Anglicans for Life, a post-abortive woman and co-founder of Silent No More America. The convention will feature a workshop, pro-life vendor booths and annual awards for outstanding pro-life activism. The cost, including the banquet, is $40 per person, $70 for married couple and $20 per student. Plan to be there! Reservations should be made in advance by calling Janet Sayles at 203-878-4097. CREDO CATHOLIC SINGLES have come up with two events that will keep your feet moving. On Sunday, October 21st at 1:00 PM, join your host Stan S. for a hike along the Cheshire Linear Trail starting at Lock 12 Historic Park. Afterwards the group will enjoy a tasty treat at Claude’s Ice Cream. A Social and Dance will be at The Dance Hall in Plainville on Friday, October 26 at 7:00 PM. A Swing Dance demo will be given. DEMONSTRATION AGAINST EMBRYONIC STEM CELL RESEARCH AT UCONN In a recent article in the September 2007 “CT Right To Life” Newsletter, “ Connecticut has awarded nearly $20 million to fund projects involving embryonic stem cell research at UCONN in Storrs , UCONN Health Center in Farmington , and Yale and Wesleyan Universities . According to statements in the Hartford Courant, researchers at those institutions intend to obtain the embryonic stem cells from frozen embryos, “leftovers” from in vitro fertilization, which will kill these embryonic human beings.In addition, at least one state funded project at UCONN will involve cloning human beings for the purpose of killing them within the first two weeks of life in order to take their embryonic stem cells. CRLC is planning a demonstration at UCONN Health Center in Farmington on Sunday, November 4 from 2:30 to 4:00 PM to protest the killing of human beings being created through either in vitro fertilization or cloning. BISHOP ROSAZZA TO RECEIVE PASSIONIST HEART AWARD- West Hartford’s Holy Family Passionist Retreat Center will honor Bishop Rosazza with the first ever Passionist Heart Award for his work for peace and social justice around the world. Each year the Church sets aside a day to remember all the Faithfully Departed. Enclosed in your envelope packets you will find the All Souls envelope. You are asked to return your All Souls Envelope as soon as possible. All envelopes received will be placed in front of the altar for the month of November. All Souls envelopes are also available at the entrances of the church. MASSES FOR ALL SOULS DAY WILL BE 8:30 AM, 12:05 PM (it’s also First Friday), 6:00 Mass in Spanish with a procession to the cemetery. ALL SOULS DAY is not a holy day of obligation but we encourage everyone to join us for the Mass on Friday, November 2nd at to remember our deceased loved ones. And the Trinity Ladies Club members are hoping that all parishioners who can sew, paint, make floral arrangements or items out of wood, metal, ceramics, or whatever will share their “GOD-GIVEN TALENTS” and donate craft items that can be sold with all proceeds going to the parish. The sale of parishioner’s donatons will continue on SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 4, following the 7:30, 9:00 and 10:30 Masses. Donations may be brought to the rectory during office hours… weekdays 9 AM to 4 PM. NEW AND USED JEWELRY DONATIONS, TOO! Open to the public…TLC hopes that many, many parish family members will come down to the hall and give support to this event that they sponsor annually. There will be something for everyone! The “Country Kitchen” will open in the morning with coffee, tea, juice, donuts, muffins and bagels on the menu. At 11:30 AM, lunch will be available featuring a variety of soups, sandwiches, and home-made pies for dessert. PIES!!! PIES!!! PIES!!! Traditionally, the Parish Arts & Crafts Fair, serves pie by the slice and sells whole pies to go! Of course, the more pies, the more the profit. And, where do these pies come from??? Why, of course… the members of our parish family who baked them for us!!! And, so if you bake pies… PLEASE consider baking at least one for the fair.
