Thank you! _____________________________________________________ LUNCH BUNCH INVITATION – ATTENTION HOLY TRINITY FAMILIES! – As some of you may know, the Christians In Action Committee started a service in 2002 to benefit the Wallingford Emergency Shelter. BROWN BAG LUNCHES are made at home and given to the residents when they leave the shelter at 7 AM each day. At the Shelter, the residents are given a hot meal at night and breakfast before they leave, but no noon-time meal. In addition, there is no soup kitchen in Wallingford. This season we are hoping to provide lunches for the entire season of November 1st through April 15th. A commitment to this project would mean making 10 to 15 Brown Bag Lunches only once or as many times as you wish during the season. (As an example, the sandwiches can be as simple as peanut butter and jelly, then add, perhaps, a juice box, and piece of fruit or snack item). The lunches would be dropped off at the Shelter in the evening (7-9PM), to be distributed at 7:00 AM by the Shelter’s volunteers. The more lunch makers we can get to help the better! It would involve a small commitment of time and donated food, but it would make a HUGE DIFFERENCE in someone’s life! Please call Kathy Dietle at 269-2267 if you have any interest in this service to our community and we can pick your “date(s)” on the calendar. “For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink… In truth I tell you, in so far as you did this to one of the least brothers of mine, you did it to me.” – Matthew 25 _____________________________________________________ A WORLDWIDE MARRIAGE ENCOUNTER is like a weekend of fresh Fall air, new beginnings and a time to rejoice in the beauty of your marriage and family. The next weekend is November 3-5. Contact John & Bev at 203-364-0836 for more information.
DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME ENDSRemember to set you clocks back Saturday night (October 28) so you won’t be late for Mass on Sunday!!!!
FROM THE PASTOR’S DESKI would like to extend my sincere appreciation to the many parishioners and friends who attended the Mass of the Anointing of the Sick on Thursday, October 5th. There were 114 who received the Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick at that Mass. We continue to pray for them and those who are sick. I would also like to thank the members of the Christians in Action Committee for all their help in preparing for this Mass as well as assisting with the sign-ins. Mrs. Rick Fowler, Parish Music Director, for the beautiful music at the Mass. To Deacon Gene Riotte, Father Jeff Gubbiotti and Father Ron Zapecki of Saints Peter & Paul for their help with the celebration of the Mass. To the Altar Servers who took time to serve the Mass. Finally, the members of the Hospitality Committee of our parish for the great reception that they did following the Mass in the Church. Thank you again for your help. By this time, parishioners should have received their letter concerning the Annual Collection. I would encourage everyone to do what they can for our wonderful parish. Your continued generosity certainly helps maintain the wonderful programs that are in place and helps keep our parish plant in good operation. Thank you again for your great support. We give thanks to Almighty God for the many blessing that we have all received in our lives. May God continue to bless you and your families. Sincerely, Father Gary Simeone Pastor
SPECIAL LITURGY (MASS) FOR THE DECEASED OF OUR PARISH As a parish family we are well aware that change has been brought to many of our families who have experienced the death of a loved one within this past year. We invite all families – as well as all members of our parish family-to a special Mass on Wednesday, November 8th, 7:00 PM. Members of our parish bereavement groups will also be in attendance at this special Mass. Following the Mass, the Parish Hospitality Committee will host a reception in the church hall for everyone in attendance. Every attempt is being made to contact, via mail, at least one member of the immediate family of those who have died between November 2005 up to the present. If, as the date grows closer, you have yet to receive an invitation please know that your loved one will be remembered at this Mass and make plans to attend.
CREATED, LOVED, & REDEEMED BY GOD… “Thus, a human life is precious when someone thinks it is, be it a parent or be it a civil court, and when that life is deemed not to be human or otherwise to be without value, then it is expendable. This kind of gross inconsistency is not questioned in our society but is taken for granted with serenity, sad to say.” Bishop Robert C. Morlino, Nathional Catholic Prayer Breakfast, April 7, 2006
