MASS REMEMBERING THE 5^TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE ATTACKS ON THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

SEPTEMBER 11, 2001

On September 11, 2006, we will mark the 5^th Anniversary of the attacks on the United States of America. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at Most Holy Trinity Church at 5:30 PM, remembering those who died on that day at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., and in Pennsylvania. We urge all our parishioners and friends to attend this Memorial Mass.

The Town of Wallingford will also mark the 5^th Anniversary of September 11^th with ceremonies at the Town Hall beginning at 6:30 PM. This is a day of remembrance and prayer for the protection of our country and its citizens.

RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS / RCIA PROGRAM BEGINS ON SEPTEMBER 24

If you, or someone you know of is interested in the Catholic faith or Catholic who has not yet received First Holy Communion or the Sacrament of Confirmation…please call Linda Scala, Coordinator, at 949-0799. This process consists of approximately 25 sessions and is held following the homily at the 10:30 Sunday Masses from September 24 through April. Clergy and laity serve as catechists.

PARENTS…ENCOURAGE YOUR CHILDREN TO ATTEND THE YOUTH GROUP KICK-OFF PARTY !!!

All high school and junior high school students are invited to an exciting “opening day” to the Youth Group year, Sunday, September 10, 6-8:30 PM at the Parish Center. Enjoy Whiffleball, games, prizes, pizza, make-your-own sundae, a Prayer Service in honor of the 5^th anniversary of September 11^th, Adoration, and FIREWORKS….and, of course, a chance to meet old and new friends! CRAFTS NEEDED FOR ANNUAL FAIR!!!

Anyone wishing to “share their God-given talents” to the Parish Craft Fair is asked to please make a donation for the Fair. If you can sew, crochet, knit, paint, make floral arrangements, make items out of wood, metal, ceramics, etc., please bring your donation to the rectory during office hours. All proceeds from your contributions will be given to the parish.

THE HOLY TRINITY ADULT CHOIR rehearses in the choir loft on Wednesday, September 13th at 7:30 PM. New members in every voice part are welcome. There are no “formal” auditions, just call and speak with Rick Fowler, Director of Music Ministry. His office phone number is 284-1745. Rehearsals are every Wednesday evening from 7:30 to 9:00 PM and then the choir sings on Sunday at the 10:30 AM Mass.

PARISH SOCIAL MINISTRY LEADERSHIP WORKSHOP- will be presented by the Archdiocesan Office of Urban Affairs on Tuesday, September 19 at St. Rita Church Basement in Hamden, from 7-9 PM. The featured speaker will be Sr. Dorothy Strelchun, SNDdeN., Diocesan Director of Catholic Relief Services. Learn about social justice and about the Home Connecticut Campaign. “NEW” BUILDING & MAINTENANCE STEERING COMMITTEE

Father Gary has organized a steering committee for the purpose of overseeing the repairs and improvements needed in and around our church, rectory, church hall and grounds, etc…some of which are contractual and other smaller projects that can be accomplished with the help of volunteers. Members of this Steering Committee include co-chairpersons, Marty Cassella, Bob Selmecki and members, Judy Cassella, Richard Cassello, Jerry Farrell, Jr., Mark Gervais, John More, SaL Morganti, Pauline Palmero, and Bob Schmitt.

NEW MEMBERS ARE NEEDED !!!

Anyone interested in joining this committee – men or women- (even those in their teens) are urged to attend a meeting in the church hall on Thursday, September 14 at 7:00 PM.

The first thing on the agenda will be “FALL CLEANING” in the church hall and church hall kitchen. Painting of the walls (in some areas); cleaning out and re-organizing kitchen cabinets, drawers and storage areas, are just of few things on our list of things to be done. Volunteers will also be needed to make sandwiches, serve beverages, etc. to the workers. These projects will begin the 2^nd week in October. Dates will be given out at the September meeting.

Anyone interested in attending this meeting is more than welcome!

The parish BEREAVEMENT GROUP will be meeting at the Parish Center on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Please come join us – God’s healing touch is here to embrace you with the help of caring friends. ROSARY GARDEN PRAYER AT SS. PETER & PAUL-Encouraged by our Blessed Mother in 1917 during Her apparitions in Fatima, Portugal, the recitation of the Rosary for conversion and reparation of sins will be prayed on Wednesday, September 13 at 7:00 PM in the Rosary Garden of Ss. Peter & Paul Church. In case of rain, the Rosary will be said in the church, 127 North Orchard Street at the Altar of the Virgin Mary. If there is enough Spanish speaking people, one decade will be done in Spanish, as well as English and Polish. (As you might know the statue of Blessed Mother in the Rosary Garden used to stand in the garden at Holy Trinity!) Come pray with us!

HOPES COLLECTION – On the weekend of September 23/24, the annual HOPES (Help Our Parish Elementary Schools) Collections will be taken. The HOPES Collection benefits over 14,500 pre-kindergarten, elementary and middle school children enrolled in all parish elementary schools in the Archdiocese of Hartford. Please be generous in your support of our Catholic schools.

School Board members will meet at 7:00 PM on Monday, September 11^th in the faculty lounge.

Orientation will be held for all grades on Wednesday evening, September 13. Parents only please.

Confirmation contracts are due for eighth graders, Friday, September 15^th.

CRAFTERS…First serve basis–Rental space for $40, each craftsperson is entitled to an 8 ft. table and chairs…$35 if you bring your own display set up (spacing 9x3’). Each participant is asked to please donate a craft for the parish raffle valued at no less than $10 This craft fair is limited to the sale of hand-crafted items and prepared items like potpourri, spices/herbs, jellies/jams/candies, etc. (no bake sales). Exceptions are only made to parish or community organizations with items being offered as fund-raisers, non-profit.

Applications and particulars are available at the rectory. Call and one will be mailed to you or stop by the rectory during office hours.

COMMISSIONING OF PARISH CCD TEACHERS will take place next Sunday, September 17 at the 9:00 AM Mass. Catechetical Sunday is celebrated throughout the United States on this day to bless those teachers who give there time and talent to educate and faithfully bring Jesus into the lives of our children. It is a wonderful witness to our parish to see all those who are committed to making religious education available to our students. Parishioners and CCD families are encouraged to attend and support our CCD program!

BINGO will be held in the church hall on Friday, September 15th. The game begins as 7:00 PM. RSVP REGRETS only, 269-8791.

ATTENTION CURSILLO COMMUNITY – there will be a Fall Liturgy at St. Mark the Evangelist Church, West Hartford at 7:30 PM on Monday, September 18. Refreshments will be served after the Mass. Cursillistas of all language groups and anyone inquiring about Cursillo are welcome. More info? 203-934-1646.
